GSA Blues

by Richard McGill

There will come a time in each of our lives when we need to make changes due to old age or reduced capabilities. Here is an ode to a greatly-missed motorcycle

There’s a space inside my garage
my best friend now has gone

We parted with great sorrow
my life is now forlorn

We shared many adventures
through sun and wind and rain

From Bristol to Santander
we’ll never ride again

It’s my sad and lonely
so regretful, ever tearful
GS Adventure blues

A clean and polish shone her
the photos did her proud

MoT and service, our time together cowed

With heavy heart the advert
my gem amongst the rest

Too soon a call came in
next day she’s going West

It’s my sad and lonely
so regretful, ever tearful
GS Adventure blues

I remember so many
so very many rides

Through road and lane and track
each journey more besides

To seaside and the country
with others in a pack

Or simply with my lovely
to paradise and back

A golden time remembered
often fast, never slow

With joy and gratitude
always special afterglow

There’s a space inside my garage
my best friend now has gone

We parted with great sorrow
my life is now forlorn

We shared many adventures
through sun and wind and rain

From Bristol to Saint Malo
we’ll never ride again

It’s my sad and lonely, so regretful
ever tearful GS Adventure blues
